Man arrested for sexual assault in Ciudad Universitaria

On Wednesday morning, the City Police arrested a 23-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting two women in Ciudad Universitaria. According to police sources, officers from the 13th Precise arrived at the scene at 11:30 a.m. "following a call alerting to two students who reported being molested by a young man." This call was made, according to a statement from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), by staff and other students who heard the victim's screams for help from inside a classroom. This allowed her to be rescued and placed in safety, and the accused was detained until the police arrived. During their interviews with the victims, aged 19 and 27, both recounted that the assailant had approached them in different areas of Pavilion 3, home to the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism (FADU), and touched them over their clothes. It was indicated that the identified individual does not belong to the university community and during the search a toy weapon was seized from him, which was not used as a means of intimidation, the victims detailed. By order of the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 39, led by Santiago Carlos Bignone, the man was detained and charged with simple sexual abuse. A young man was detained on the premises of Ciudad Universitaria accused of assaulting two students.
